Bio-nematicide information and launch day : BioAct WG Strain 251
The SAOAS-Alfachimie group organized on the 26th of July 2012 at the Royal Atlas Hotel in Agadir an information and launch day of its new bio-nematicide: BioAct WG strain 251. BioAct WG is the ideal alternative for the control of root-knot nematodes through its actions on all stages of nematode development.
Nematodes are a serious problem for tomato producers in Souss, especially with the restriction use of plant protection products and the prohibition of many specialties with negative effects on the components of the environment. The farmers and phytosanitary authorities are therefore in urgent need of a new sustainable and accessible alternatives.
The information day, initiated by Mr. Ali El Ouafi, Deputy Director of the SAOAS-ALFACHIMIE group, was attended by a hundred professionals, mainly managers, farmers, technicians and large production unit leaders. The meeting was opened by Mr. Celestino Gil Lozano, Product Manager of Sipcam Iberia, presenting the situation of nematicides in Europe and Morocco. Then Mr. Matthias von Erffa, Marketing Director of the Prophyta company, presented the production process of BioAct, its mode of action, its application program as well as the results of the tests installed in different countries like Spain and Greece. Mr. El Alaoui M. Amin, Development Manager of the SAOAS-ALFACHIMIE group presented the results of the tests conducted in Morocco, particularly in the Souss region.
BioAct WG and its many advantages:
BioAct is a water-dispersible granule formulation used to kill plant parasitic nematodes. It uses the spores of the natural fungus Paecilomyces lilacinus strain 251.
Its benefits are diverse: (1) It has no negative effect on beneficial soil microorganisms, (2) It is easy to handle and apply, (3) It parasitizes all stages of development of Rooted Nematodes cultures and it is the only nematicide with action against eggs, (4) it is as efficient as similar chemical nematicides confirmed by recognized tests "GEP".
